Mommy’s Medicine Cabinet to the Rescue

What three words do grandmas dread hearing from our grandkids when we’re watching them for the weekend?

I feel sick!

If you’ve ever had that experience, you’ll appreciate a helpful new product I just discovered. Created by the parents of three young children, Mommys Medicine Cabinet is a doctor-recommended, organized bag of the most frequently used non-prescription medicines and first-aid products for sick or injured children.

Founders Priscilla and Mike Thomas conceived their idea based on their own experiences of being on vacation or visiting grandparents and having one of their children get sick. They also knew that when your basic family medicines are either expired or not in the medicine cabinet at all, it can make a stressful situation even worse.

So they put together a comprehensive kit of commonly used over-the-counter medicines to handle sniffles, aches, bumps, bruises and bites. They also offer a service that notifies you when the products you purchase from them are about to expire or have been recalled by the manufacturer or the FDA. The bags and medicines are available for two different age groups: newborns through two years and children ages 2 – 6 years.

The contents include:

  • Liquid Antihistamine 4 oz.
  • Hydrocortisone 1 oz.
  • Acetaminophen chews 30 count
  • Probe covers 30 count
  • Digital thermometer
  • Children’s Ibuprofen liquid 4 oz.
  • Alcohol wipes 6 count
  • Nasal Saline 1.5 oz.
  • Bandages 30 count
  • Triple Anti Bacterial Ointment 1 oz.
  • Petroleum Jelly 3.75 oz.

This stylish “Kate” bag has all the products tucked into clear zippered pouches so you can easily see what you’re looking for. There’s also enough room in the bag for any prescriptions or additional medicines your grandchild may need and a pouch on the outside for doctor’s instructions, immunization charts, and allergy lists. The bag comes beautifully wrapped and would make an ideal gift for a baby shower or new grandma.

  1. This is a great idea and would be an awesome grandparent gift. I especially like the notification about expiration dates. I’ve found myself in the position more than once of needing to give a grandchild medication and finding that mine is expired.
