Volunteering Is Good for the Doer

Did you know that volunteering can benefit YOU even more than the people you’re serving? Volunteering can help you make friends, learn new skills, advance your career, and even make you feel happier and healthier. Why not start the New Year off by offering your talents to people in need?

You’re invited to attend our first GaGa Sisterhood Zoom meeting of 2022 on January 9 for an inspiring presentation by Randee Bloom. This grandma has devoted her life to helping people find the right volunteer opportunity by showing them the benefits. “Grandee,” as she’s known to her 3 grandchildren, has earned many titles besides grandma — Ph.D., RN, MBA, and Volunteer Ambassador for AARP. She’ll help us explore the different roles we’ve cultivated over our lifetime, including Grandmother, and explain how Volunteer Service can enrich our happiness, health, longevity, and legacy.

Randee calls volunteerism the “pillars of longevity.” Giving to others can help protect your mental and physical health. It can reduce stress, combat depression, keep you mentally stimulated, and provide a sense of purpose.

Volunteers do not necessarily have the time; they just have the heart.     — Elizabeth Andrew

Attend Our Meeting

Randee will give a 30-minute presentation to help us find the right volunteer opportunity. We’ll have a breakout session to talk about our own volunteer experiences followed by a Q&A.
