I’m excited for Hilary and Bill Clinton. It’s going to be so much fun to watch them as they embrace their new role as grandparents. I’m sure little Charlotte Clinton Mezvinsky is going to be quite the media belle. Judging from what I’ve read so far, they’re all off to a fabulous start.
Chelsea Clinton started out with a wonderful way to announce that her parents were going to be grandparents. Speaking at a No Ceilings event with her mother last April, she said:
“Marc [Mezvinsky] and I are very excited that we have our first child arriving later this year, and I certainly feel all the better — whether it’s a girl or a boy — that she or he will grow up in a world full of so many strong young female leaders, so thank you for inspiring me and thank you for inspiring future generations, including the one that we’ll be lucky enough to welcome into our family later this year,” Chelsea said. “I just hope that I will be as good a mom to my child, and hopefully children, as my mom was to me.”
I’m so impressed by all the wisdom and insight Chelsea has shown so far, I know she’s going to be a phenomenal mother. When CNN’s Fareed Zakaria recently asked why she didn’t want to know the sex of her baby, she said: “There are so few mysteries in life in which any answer is a happy one, so my husband and I decided that we would enjoy this mystery for the nine plus months that we were granted and we are eager to find out what God will have given us.”
When Zakaria followed up by saying, “Isn’t it strange that the doctors around you know?” She showed her humor by answering, “No, there are lots of things the doctors know that I don’t know!”
Well now the mystery is over and all the Clintons are over the moon about this new little member of the family. Congratulations to all of them.
